...

Hello, everybody. Good afternoon. Good evening. Good morning, wherever you on.

...

I love this. What a great serene, like

...

way to start this session off with the the weight

...

my I made me feel like we're almost like, sitting in a backyard garden somewhere. Having

...

drinks hanging out, to be nothing more exciting than

...

be able to see you all in real life.

...

Thank you for joining me today, guys. I'm Jen, and this is the boo art his

...

where we're gonna talk about our history over drinks

...

it's gonna be informal. It's gonna be weird. It's gonna be great.

...

since we're in the midst of what normally would be

...

think you might know in normally been the bit of wedding season. If

...

we weren't in the middle of a pandemic. I figured I would do a session on weddings and

...

more specifically winning culture seem in part.

...

Now, disclaimer, there's absolutely no way I can cover

...

all of the art that touches us all fighting cultures. So I'm just giving you, like, a little sample today.

...

we're gonna try and keep it to thirty minutes. No guarantees guys. I'm really

...

trying do. I promise. And I'm gonna leave time at the end as well for any questions

...

a discussion and just

...

quick Fyi. I'm gonna be focusing on Christian heterosexual marriages.

...

not because I don't believe in other forms of marriages or that

...

of his laws. Absolutely. I am here for it.

...

But, unfortunately, we would be here for

...

followers if I went into everything,

...

like I said, we're gonna do a little sample and down the road, I will be doing

...

other types of marriage culture as well to

...

what that being said, I have a lot to say. So let's get into it? First things I wanted to

...

discuss marriage customs we see today. So usually, people meet they

...

fall love, Hopefully, they discussed getting married. They're becoming gay, just they agree that they wanna

...

married. And then we have all the pre wedding festivities

...

And after that this marathon of festivities, we have

...

wedding ceremony and reception. So today, I wanna talk about the engagement

...

period and actual wedding customs. So wedding day has

...

which leads me straight into our first part, the engagement.

...

Now, historically engagements would be called

...

either an engagement or a patrols. Now both patrol engagement mean the same sort

...

of mutual promise for future marriage between two people.

...

pretty much it's just an agreement. It's a contractual agreement whether

...

legally binding or just something that's said in between two

...

people I will not be discussing galleries

...

since that is a whole can of worms that I just

...

guys. I can't I can't really quantify it as far as

...

objects go because there's so many things that are

...

fall into the great area of Dollar and what does it?

...

So, again, just to keep things kind of in a certain

...

time frame. ...we're gonna skip that today. I am happy to do a session.

...

a follow up on diary items if anyone's interested,

...

So the thing right again on that. I also wanna note

...

that a lot of the objects we're gonna be talking about today will be associated with

...

weddings that originate from people's of wealth as in our historian, it's

...

really, really difficult to get an idea of what the common person didn't in their life.

...

since i usually didn't leave anything behind for us to study. They didn't have lot material well

...

as we would today. And so we don't have anything really to study with a few

...

sections, which I will be talking about in a bit, we will get to it.

...

But that being inside let's get into it. So

...

first thing I want to do is I wanna talk about something we may have come across

...

actually, if anyone here is a Burger fan, this is a really

...

fun one is true cells or because as they're known in

...

Italian.

...

a really beautiful chess, and I'm gonna put it an example that I love

...

so much in it to

...

the fortune cookie here, so I can you have a

...

Alright. Perfect. There. So it's a fits in metropolitan museum are, and it's an absolute

...

stunning piece.

...

And so let's go ahead and go a little bit more. Like I said, we've heard of

...

or so and Burger ten. This is kind of where B Merger ten is like, dragging Daphne all over London.

...

all over the tone to have her, like, get ready for

...

her Torso for permission to Simon.

...

So basically, it can be a, Marriage trust hope chat

...

The point of it a or is act as a sort of suitcase where a woman could

...

store everything she would need in her new husband's house.

...

usually, this involved clothing linen

...

any other items so things keep snakes.

...

little decorations she would have put around the house to kinda give it that special

...

touch.

...

And it's just ...it's really really personal, which I love. I think it's

...

incredibly interesting. It wasn't an engagement gift, and it really wasn't part of a women's

...

married. This was a very specific, like, part of, like,

...

the

...

the woman and, like, her a general gift is the next milestone marker.

...

And it usually is from a very close family member or a father

...

of the bride, and was given directly to the bride. It wasn't a gift for, like, the couple.

...

It's ...yeah. It's really cool. Thank you. Well, it is it's a

...

cunning on. So if you guys open up that link that I have in the fortune

...

and cookie. It is ...you will see this magnificent carved to keep that's huge.

...

absolutely massive guys. It's like the width of our person.

...

And it's really fun.

...

This one is Italian. It's from the Quad period. Aka, the fourteen hundreds

...

which is

...

Love that. Love that so much. You'll hear me say clap your time Joy everyone once in while I apologize

...

guys. Let's my art historian side slipping.

...

And so this one is sits in the map like I said, but there's also a

...

red collection of them in the Museum, which is important. So if you find your

...

myself forward very anytime soon. Go check out of Our. I mean,

...

check out the Vo in general. It is it's a incredible

...

action incredible museum. I but they have a ton of really cool personas.

...

much like we see here with the metropolitan museum of art one

...

is a is usually made of wood and has car and or

...

painting on the outside as well as on the inner lid.

...

the outside designs were usually based on famous love stories or court romance

...

sums. And by that, I mean, basically showing men being super romantic to women and

...

like think nights and training armor type scenes.

...

What's really fun about this particular is

...

actually shows a part of visits and murder

...

meta morph. There we go. I can say that. We can see on the last

...

we see series writing her dragon chariot

...

I threw the magical forests inhabited by Theaters who

...

we see once today there in the middle.

...

looking for her daughter, post, who is also known as

...

So this is when Seventeen is abducted by Ha and taken to the underworld

...

which is actually a really tragic story to be putting

...

on the front of a, like your felt very well gift to your daughter like,

...

actually really high, but

...

in a way, if you think about it it's actually really beautiful. It's

...

we can assume maybe with this that a mother

...

was giving it to her daughter upon her marriage. And so

...

she maybe is feeling a bit like serious. She's losing her daughter

...

to this marriage, and she won't ever see her again. I mean, of course, it's a bit dramatic. Like,

...

women during the court period when they left to be married, they would

...

go to their husband's household and reside in the household.

...

Now before that un unmarried women would live with their family. So they would

...

each other literally every second of every day. So

...

you can imagine there's a little separation anxiety, which is now

...

out coming through and this lovely to Sony.

...

is mean,

...

the details in this piece are so cool, and I would recommend just

...

saving this image or even saving the

...

metropolitan tab.

...

just having a closer look at it too men, get comfortable with it. There's a lot of

...

really beautiful carving beans. It's just it's magnificent.

...

I don't know if for the moment. It's

...

If you are in New York, you can see it in the galleries, but I'm pretty sure you can.

...

It's

...

is really wild. That being said,

...

I wanna talk about the fact that

...

because sometimes are very much a status symbol as well too. The fancier

...

Or True,

...

the fans you were. Usually, like I said, the insights would be

...

painted as well. And I mean, we could have anything from, like,

...

gold leave put in their precious.

...

gems stone, things like that. But the point

...

anti was always a having

...

scene to remind the bride of how she should act or behave as a wife.

...

Unfortunately, I don't have any good, like,

...

copyright free images to show you guys. Again, I would

...

send you to the Part website, and have really beautiful collections there.

...

But like I said, it seems we go anything

...

from a woman being pious to being devoted to her husband.

...

to sort of female famous romance

...

story. It's much like I have the painting I actually want to discuss.

...

next, which is going to

...

be the very famous venus server being out. Let me get that into the

...

watching cookie for you guys.

...

technical difficulties here. Give me one second.

...

Alright. There we go. So this is the look

...

a link for it. It's great. I love with at Pbs so much. Guys. I don't know

...

ob without it. So this is Tis Venous

...

of our. Fyi there is nudity in there. So

...

you have kids round, who may not be ready for full frontal woman

...

Just be forward. This is the downside of

...

or history. Exactly lily it is. It's

...

...us ladies it's nothing we wouldn't have seen in a mirror, but

...

there are people for delicate sensibility.

...

This by far is one of my top five favorite

...

to works. The other being Ba, which

...

it's in the National Gallery in London, but I digress. This is the venus.

...

And this is an amazing marriage themed painting, And this is

...

maybe one, like, to know. What is this? Well, how is this marriage?

...

how is this one they? And why are you doing this? This was just a a get lady.

...

so basically, tissue created a venus figure. Our leading lady up front,

...

And it was buck naked for the world to see all of her goodies

...

out. She's not a real person, but rather a general ideal of what

...

a woman should look like.

...

and

...

it's it's really really fascinating to me. So this is

...

kitchen telling women look like her. This is kind of like their version of vogue, if you will.

...

they can see the latest, like this is the body type that's very in right now.

...

And we mean ...I love this. She's very full. I'm sure it's guys. I love i. I she

...

pandemic pot ready. So

...

but also this

...

basically shows an important part of women's roles and weddings and marriages. Tis

...

showing a woman who should be sexy and sort of ready reform her

...

arnold white duties, Like, she should be able to produce an air for her husband.

...

and continued the family line. He's also seen, but she should also be

...

faithful. Don't be too sexy as

...

all of us women know there's always a fine line between being sexy and being too sexy.

...

And that's mathematicians definitely

...

putting that out there for women.

...

And we see he's also telling her be faithful in that little tiny dog we see by her feet.

...

who's very acutely sn. Is just absolute

...

horrible. And we see behind her actually, not one, but two

...

guys. How exciting this is. This imaginary lady is Uber wealthy. She's got

...

two personas. Plus she's got two metres who are rushing to get addressed.

...

What's one about this opinion as well to actually, if a

...

his historians have gotten in ...I mean, to the points they're almost in inf fights over? It's

...

Is this painting happening dos at Dusk or Dawn?

...

And so theories are hard that this woman has just been a night with her

...

husband, She's feeling very. Sexy she's done a good job as a life.

...

and her mates are getting her dressed for the day. We can see the made

...

in the red holding address over her shoulder.

...

while the other digs through for the other garments she'll put on underneath.

...

And so it could be that or it could be that she simply

...

was it giving her clothing to her means she's un addressing for the evening.

...

which I think is so interesting. It it just ...I no one know

...

no one has absolute hundred percent

...

thoughts on one way or the other. And like I said,

...

to our historians chances are they'll disagree with each other and

...

and bring on go fight over it. I digress. I also wanna point out

...

a fun fact about paintings like this where we see

...

the nude body, the nude figure.

...

No.

...

most times when you see a nude figure like this, these peeing wouldn't have actually

...

hung out in the open. Like in mean hallways or things like that

...

they would have usually been in a study or if they were in a hallway, they would have

...

had, like, a little almost like a little curtain rod over the top of it. Which

...

with a drapery that would go over it. So whenever the owner of the

...

he's had guest of delicate sensibility coming into the room.

...

they could pull the drape and it could hide the painting after drink this beautiful cloth. So they wouldn't have to

...

see the in ind of this new figure. I I know a ridiculous

...

says guys it's. It's really stupid bad. Bye. I digress. And so it's really fun

...

then if they do wanna show the painting, all the owner has to do is kind of tug on that little

...

and draws string on the side and it reveals the painting underneath

...

So that way, it's kind of like, almost like you can hide

...

evil. So they don't think they're too cross, but I like

...

let's move along into controllable portraits, which is another

...

great way we're showing

...

major part of engagement. Let me put in

...

queue that I absolutely adore for her total portraits.

...

which is Margaret of Foster

...

portrait that says in the metropolitan museum of art, and it's just

...

absolutely fascinating. Let me pull that into the link for you guys.

...

So we can get the fortune cookie updated here.

...

Alright. There we go.

...

And so this is a really, really great

...

control portrait. And what's great about patrol portraits? So they basically show our his

...

and historians a lot about either political lame men's fashion, history

...

how the consider one present themselves as the perspective

...

a predator groom. I always tell people in contemporary terms. This is pretty much the dating

...

profile photo. For lack of a better way to put it. Like, this was like you would put on your tinder.

...

if you wanna be to see you. And

...

So yes John, I know that that's wild. So

...

This is a lot the times. People wouldn't see each other before they are married. So the or trips

...

really was a kind of way to be like, this is who I am. This is what I look like.

...

do you wanna still get married?

...

And I mean, there are instances in our it's in history, where people moved the portraits inside

...

So, like, this person on great, and then the person shows up and they're like,

...

you look nothing like your portraits.

...

guys. Cat fishing was real.

...

has been real for centuries so

...

I just wanna put that out there. It just

...

nothing nothing no we have humans still. It's it's wild.

...

But that being said let's get back to this lovely portrait of our beloved market of os

...

who's a fascinating woman, and I would highly recommend that you

...

have a look at her outside of this. Just have our wikipedia look

...

page a look. It's

...

so so good.

...

This specific portrait is her as the daughter of Max of Austria.

...

the future holy Roman Emperor, who you guys may have heard

...

of the maximum Roman emperor. In this portrait

...

she's about ten years old, and it was commissioned to be sent to the future King Charles.

...

p who is son of King louis the all eleventh.

...

So they're sending it off to France.

...

what I love about this, that we can know as our history looking at it.

...

give away that it's kapetanopoulos portrait is the details we you see.

...

so if you guys are looking at the link, you can

...

kind of zoom in and there's this really great detail actually, if you go towards her neck

...

towards the necklace, and you will see that they've painted it sort of like

...

faux embroidery, the letters c and

...

am

...

which stands for Charles and Margaret. So she's showing the

...

like, hey you look. I've already got stuff embroidered with it. Like, we're like, gonna be a great match.

...

And then I also wanna draw your attention to that pendant hanging around her neck.

...

right next to the embroidery. And that is a

...

It it's really bizarre guys but the Pe Piercing

...

stressed. Which ...At that point in Christian faith, that's taken that sort of a very

...

like,

...

religious symbol is showing active devotion to your children you're willing to do with

...

ever you can to feed your young. I don't know how we got there guys. I really don't. I am not a

...

religious person at all time

...

many questions if anyone dies now, please do let me know at the end of this because

...

I would love to finally put that to rest.

...

but I die so we also see in her hands if you guys go

...

on her hands these really beautiful groceries. So we've

...

and this portrait a beautiful young highest girl who's ready

...

to become queen and will be an excellent match for her husband.

...

sad news is, unfortunately, the arranged marriage fell through

...

But Mark went on, like I said, to have an incredible fascinating history, and I do recommend you

...

having another dig on her. And then another one, I wanna talk

...

about the through little portrait. So it's not actually a true maternal portrait, but just still

...

definitely worth noting is

...

one of my favorite people in the whole world as Marina Medici and my

...

same marie another. I mean, absolutely. The one from the C

...

show rain. You guys are probably thinking off my my

...

talk around that one, but it is. It's a great show. Not historically accurate

...

but we do get to be introduced.

...

and two lovely historical figures and Marie medici is by far one of my favorites. So I

...

put the link in there for the specific piece I wanna talk about.

...

which is the presentation of her portrait to Henry be force.

...

So it's pain from a series of the marinade medici life's

...

michael that she commissioned by Reuben. And so she commissioned this

...

series of her life.

...

If you go ...if you're on the link, you can kinda of scroll down and you'll

...

see that says the life cycle of marie minute have a look at that.

...

when you get a chance, it is there's some really incredible pieces in it

...

it ruins up himself at that girl.

...

we will see this time and time again, and I am here for it. Reuben was definitely ready for pan pandemic bodies.

...

So

...

it's really great, but the specific painting on the

...

more seen this

...

this moment we're on the right, we have King Henry Seen. The portrait.

...

of maria man.

...

And now, in typical marine style, this painting is super over the top.

...

we have a more aka a cupid. We have here god of

...

marriage in there as well to

...

Yes. Megan do it for the and stuff. And

...

And so we have

...

those we have Henry with her portrait looking at it, and then we have

...

Jupiter and Anna looking down from the heavens, and all of these figures are

...

put in there very strategically to represent a happy and successful marriage, which

...

I mean, if anyone

...

as while trained, We know for a fact that that is not

...

a happy marriage at all, and that just very historically

...

true. They did not get on Henry. It was always just

...

constantly, like, cheating on her. And just

...

he was traveling his mistress everywhere, which is

...

just

...

wild, like, Henry you get together.

...

But, again, I die digress guys. I feel like that's my motto for the day. I digress.

...

I wanna talk about the second part of this, which is actually the wedding sarah

...

And the big part of the what ceremonies are rings and the double ring

...

money. So what we know today is the start ...ring ceremony where a man and a woman

...

exchange rings. That's called a double ring ceremony in case

...

you all wanted to know the terminology technology.

...

So

...

Just keith things mind. We have to keep in mind as well too historically, Jury has always

...

extremely expensive and not just

...

anyone could have purchased it. And usually, couples had to save up

...

for, like, a year, like, to get there, what you be? Is a lot of times

...

they wouldn't actually focus on engagement rings. It wasn't until eighteen eighties views that

...

we see engagement front ring culture actually take hold across

...

most Western European and American cultures.

...

We trivia in eighteen eighty six. Actually, Tiffany and

...

the first Diamond ring and by eighteen eighty eight beers and company own

...

almost ninety percent of

...

all Diamond productions in the world. To be perfectly frank, I am not a fan of the

...

an industry and the creation of

...

diamond ring tradition. I I I just ...I'll leave it at that. I'm not gonna go myself

...

box. I'm gonna leave it at that, and I just believe that dive our girls best friend is one of the most successful

...

the propaganda ever produced.

...

that's a fun ring culture for you guys

...

but getting back on topic. What's particularly interesting to point out

...

is that brings have not been commonly used in wedding customs.

...

sort of before the tenth century. And I think that's

...

absolutely fascinating. Right? So when I say ten century, I mean, the nine hundreds

...

that's when we first start seeing things kind of pop up.

...

in cultures.

...

across Europe. And these beautiful

...

gold fans, stuff like that rings gems

...

etcetera. And I'm actually putting in a piece that we'll contradict what

...

I am staying. So if you go into the fortune cookie, you will

...

see this really cool ring that's actually from the third century.

...

No. I don't know anything that goes

...

back that So I was really excited to see

...

something that comes from, like, literally the two hundreds.

...

And then we're talking in, like, after christ, like ad, guys, which is

...

wild. This is such a cool piece. But that be inside

...

in the eleventh century, where this is where we start seeing actually double ring ceremony

...

with silver rings becoming popular in Europe.

...

And then usually, what happens is we go back to a single ring

...

and in believe, that's really, really popular during the thirteenth

...

century, and then the french should take over it as well to you in the sixteenth

...

So for the most part, like, the tradition is old, but it's not

...

like, as

...

as everyone wants you to believe, which I think is

...

really, really interesting. And another way, a lot of times if couples couldn't afford

...

rings. They could do other things. We have traditions of jumping the room. We have

...

last hands, which I think is the most

...

predominant of of all of the sort of symbolism that

...

a couple were married.

...

And a lot of times, I, ...a couple could literally just go into sort of, like, the town Square and announce

...

that they were married to the community, Everyone be like, alright. Cool. Good to know you're man my life.

...

excellent. Like, business as usual. But like I said, cost hands

...

is really a big symbolism that we see a lot in, like, wedding guests

...

and jewelry much like the the ring that we see in the fortune code

...

As sometimes you guys will see even vintage rings if you go

...

jeweler and things like that, and they have a really, really cool stuff.

...

And, of course, that being said

...

trying to keep this on track guys. I do. I promise. So bear with me.

...

The next piece I wanna talk about is the arnold

...

portrait. I feel like I would really be doing it disservice by not talking about

...

this specific painting because it is ...it's such an essential

...

of understanding writing customs in culture in form art, which is

...

just

...

so interesting is so fascinating, and this team, I could go on

...

forever never ever about actors, put the link in for you guys in the floor

...

cookie.

...

And so it's they're countless simple for this. I mean, just so many

...

the one I wanna draw your hands to your ideas,

...

your eyes too. My god. I think my drink was stronger than I

...

thought was. Alright. I mean drink some water guys.

...

And so

...

What we see is the cost hands right there, smack dab in the middle of this

...

mean. And so

...

it's really ...it this is obviously about of wedding. This is a merit

...

Now our friends have argued, whether or not this painting was actually

...

painted as a wedding contract or if it was

...

documenting a existing marriage between the two people we see

...

either way, there's so many marriage symbolism in this piece.

...

and it's just

...

it's wild. I could go on forever and never ever. But I just wanna talk about

...

a couple of things. The first being, we see the woman showing her role as the man's wife by

...

sending close to the bed or, like, further into the room, which represents her being a caretaker

...

off the household. Well, the man we see him standing by the window

...

representing his role in the outside world.

...

We also see her gaze at her husband.

...

showing her obedience to him. But it's really, really great about this

...

she's looking directly at him rather than down at the floor, which means

...

she is equal to him in this marriage. If you've been looking down,

...

but I know i it right. Yes. Equal marriage Like here for this.

...

get,, wherever she does. So

...

if she been looking down before, it meant it was meant

...

and signal of viewers that she was below him and status, she was beneath

...

So that's what I love this. She is, obviously his as painting.

...

But it also off we have, again, our lovely little dog that we saw as

...

the venus of. Again, little dogs represent fidelity.

...

man's best friend. Right? And so this applies to women as well

...

do and remind them that they are man's best friends. I have a lot of beef with that.

...

but that's that's what that means, guys.

...

So like I said, I could do a whole session just on those

...

but I won't since we ...I'm already running over and we don't have time for that.

...

The next I wanna talk about is actually one more painting

...

and it brings up again really this

...

great

...

concept of rings and their importance of rings.

...

two people and marriages and

...

weddings.

...

Let we pop it into the fortune cookie here for you guys.

...

there we are. And this is the gold shop by Pet Christmas.

...

And here we seen engaged couple who are visiting their local code

...

gold Smith to purchase a gold ring for the pride.

...

which we can see you're gonna have to zoom in guys as

...

you cannot see it just looking at it. But if you look at the government's hands, there's a skill

...

and if you look at Zoom into it, you can see the ring.

...

and it's very, very cool.

...

It's it's great because it shows

...

not only like, it's rather sweet. These couples are out and purchasing her ring together.

...

but also, they're making sure she had an expensive ring.

...

which is great to keep in mind, like, much like today, the more valuable the ring the better looks at showing off

...

the wealth of the cop. It's also great to note

...

how important a valuable ring was to a bride. Not like, contemporary as much

...

but historically, for the bride, having an expensive ring meant that she had a liquid

...

asset. She could she ever need it or

...

wanted it.

...

So the more expensive the ring the more money she could get for it if she sold it, these times

...

get tough or she has to ...her husband passes away and she has to pay for

...

things. ...that's another really important part of having that expensive ring.

...

Again, a lot of lot of symbolism in this painting that I

...

i could get into, but I simply don't have time for.

...

Now last bit that I wanna get into is reception.

...

And I am going to post that in here

...

Toni, which is going to be

...

I ...I mean, which doesn't of a good reception. Right? Like, this is the fun part, I mean, like,

...

we all got together. We all get to have food. We get to have drains. We get the

...

and, like, catch up and then i'm sorry, dance night

...

away. And I love that that is true, historically.

...

right? Like, that ...that does not

...

change ever. And so

...

What's really great. I just put this piece in by Peter B, the

...

elder, and it's the present. And what I love about this is actually, their historical

...

records showing couples being prank

...

by the town that they live in the towns if you

...

well for not throwing a party for the village of our taken in once they were married,

...

so it it is I mean, reception are a huge part

...

of the community and community event and a great way for everybody alone us team, and we see that

...

here in this particular painting. And what I wanna point out is well two is wedding

...

as far as wedding cultures go, We see the bride who is sitting there behind the green

...

panel with a little, like, crown thing over her head, but

...

the groom is nowhere in sight. Right? Like, we see all of the people from her community there.

...

see kids. We see the bakers running around with

...

pies and such people eating in mary making

...

No. There there's the room is over to be seen.

...

fun fact, during this time period, it was actually the custom for the groom not to

...

take in the wedding reception.

...

which I think is just very, very fascinating me, you know that was sort of

...

very female that was seen as a celebration of the bride.

...

other than the groom, Of course, this goes into the whole tradition of a woman being given away

...

and she becomes an asset of her husband's household, which I ...again, I have many issues with

...

they will not

...

get into that. We don't have time for it.

...

It's great. I love it. I love this community coming together, and I get, this is a rare

...

example. Of being able to see people everyday people

...

celebrating nobody. And I have one last painting I want to say

...

you guys also invite peter protocol the Elder,

...

which shows one more wedding scene of

...

the common folk if you will, which I absolutely love And her very famous piece as well.

...

which is the wedding dance.

...

we're gonna have to hunt a little bit further

...

That just updated the

...

So fortune cookie for you guys. You can see that. So you have to look, and you're gonna have to zoom in. It's

...

all the way in the back because where we see the pride again, green tapestry, the little like,

...

chandelier, if you will over the top of her, signify to find the bride,

...

But ...yeah, if we see everyone just having our grand old

...

time here, And I love this. I'd love again, we see this community the

...

joy, the the happiness of people just dancing in the night away. And fact

...

just love that so much, and it's so rare to see things like

...

I wanna reiterate it again.

...

a lot of people who could commission

...

part

...

throughout our history where people ...wow, they had extra money. Most people that we

...

and this Peter bra painting did not have that kind of money. They didn't have extra money. They were literally

...

living like, hand the mouth kind of deal. And so they wouldn't have painted a

...

gotten a commission of their wedding done. And so it's just

...

it's really lovely and so insightful for historians

...

to be able to see things like it like, we literally see history in motion, and it was so

...

And it helps us understand things like wedding cultures a little bit more.

...

for will too. If you guys ever come across the Peter B

...

holder or younger in a collection, like

...

literally a friend owns it or something. Tell me because there's so few of them and I love them and I love

...

obsessed with them. It very rarely, do we ever see them come onto the art market?

...

like, for sale, through galleries or auction houses.

...

it's ...they're so somewhere rare. And it's very exciting to see

...

them every once in a while much like we see the excitement in these people here. Right?

...

would that be said, I would love to open up before to anyone

...

who have questions or comments or fun wedding trivia facts

...

they would like to give to us. I am all ears

...

And in the meantime, while we wait for people to come up on stage

...

I'm gonna throw some fun trivia facts at you guys.

...

fun fact, I ...this is one of my favorites actually

...

is bride means are basically bride.

...

And I say this because most of the time in period beliefs

...

they thought that a

...

wife or a woman or the bride to be if you will

...

she was in grave danger of being possessed.

...

by your demons or evil malicious spirits.

...

on the day of her wedding. And so

...

that's where brightening came from is they would dress up, like the pride. It's sort of

...

in the same outfit, if you will, and it would walk in front of

...

down sort of the church Hallway or in front of wherever the reception was or the

...

wherever they were getting married as a way to sort of

...

confuse this malicious and evil spirit from attacking

...

this poor bride on her wedding day. Until we see this

...

tradition even today going all the way to comment that marriages that that's

...

day we're ...I don't know how many of you I personally have been in advise.

...

far too many times. So many dresses. So little time starting fill a bit

...

like, twenty seven dresses in my life.

...

but it is it's great. And I love that. So the next time you're wedding the people

...

like, oh, bra it oh surprise never bride. You can tell them be like, I was

...

protecting the bride on her precious day. So please leave me alone.

...

Oh, john. Welcome.

...

Hi, John. Welcome up. Do you have any fun facts or questions?

...

Hey, you know, I ...that that that you knew exactly how to hook me with

...

that last statement and you do that.

...

But that's a that's tidbit admit that I had never heard of

...

for, like, the the bride essentially protecting the bride that's

...

that's the whole piece of of

...

No, far back history that I never heard of. That's

...

Yeah. I know. It it is it's a wild. It's

...

I think that wedding has are so wild and

...

that's what I really feel like I should kind of do a breakdown of different cultures and different things.

...

my background is in sort of colonial American history and

...

art collections. And so I I feel like John You and I should probably have a child about that. The

...

very normal in the p scare tactics. I don't know about you, but I'm a

...

assess of the movie the which that is. Ugh, what a great movie.

...

but which I will actually be discussing at linked here before too long. You should hop on

...

a conversation.

...

Yeah. Because I

...

Absolutely. Anything that involves pure and fear, I'm on

...

board less.

...

Yeah. Well, you know, I'm doing that whole, you know,

...

Yes.

...

Friday, freaky Freddie, film club thing, Nana, something that I do wanna do a deep

...

dive into is

...

like, this resurgence in folklore core that's coming around. And

...

it's it's so interesting that we're like, there seems to be a mass

...

to boom across the entire world of people kind of

...

watching on the

...

those stories, but it's really interesting to hear

...

coming from, like, a historical point of view

...

so this is this has been interesting. I really

...

I really hope you will

...

do this same thing with, like, other cultures as you were saying earlier on the

...

show because this just gonna be fascinating stuff. I would like to see what other cultures did

...

Absolutely. Thank you so much, Sean at your heights. It's

...

I know there ...I really ...there's so many pieces I wanna get into.

...

but just don't have the time as we can see looking at the clock. I'm already,

...

or garbage over but thank you so much.

...

Hey, you're the only one who sets a time limit on these things.

...

I mean,

...

that means that Absolutely guilty, John Guilty

...

charge. That means that they you much, John, Lily. Thank you so much for joining us. You able to question.

...

I'm

...

fun fact, you wanna trip in.

...

Hi self. Wonderful presentation. Really great.

...

And because I I think I'm kinda of bored.

...

Yeah. For the birth discussion, I'll keep it brief.

...

Well,

...

Let's see.

...

room.

...

Well, basically, kind of talking about

...

kind of always ...I guess, the

...

ronald

...

arranged marriage. I run across back kind of been a you too many

...

times in My light

...

but like, kind of costumes like a friend of mine,

...

actually, she was an error, since she was kind of arranging this marriage.

...

with her cousin and then, you know, and Ended up

...

fin photographs and on piano and he was like, love it first.

...

and they were planning. Like she's like, we'd to have

...

get married in an art museum and everything

...

and it was just like this whole crazy thing

...

but we're doing booze kind of are into

...

three, So that's nine little off

...

I love less. Lily, You always come in with the most

...

amazing little nuggets here, and I am here for it. This is incredible.

...

that would be such as the, like king marriage in an art Gallery. Also, like,

...

just going to off of, like, pictures and

...

imagine using your profile photo as, like a musical composition and

...

he'll you so interesting as like, no. Don't look at me. You listen to what I went

...

sound like and that is I I'm hoping

...

I well we know this here going anywhere with the Piano because I'll be so fast

...

oh, waiting on that feature to come up so that I can start

...

blasting my music to all of you amazing

...

Yeah.

...

Oh

...

That would be great. I was

...

I would be here for the that just ...I know music it said so much about our

...

personalities and who we are. I do love the weight bot, but I'm also, like,

...

waiting for us to be able to

...

sort of manipulate be the way bot into getting those things happening here.

...

that would be fun. Lily, I

...

Oh, yeah.

...

I don't know why. But part of my brain was like, I feel like you would also know the how about royal by

...

Oh, honestly, I know. But, oh my god. My sister

...

some when comes to the British Monarch. Do you were

...

so annoying she's, like, interesting. I was like, everything British and she would know all that.

...

am I putting you on this spot here? I'm sorry if I am, please ignore me if I am.

...

I never rarely went into that

...

All I know is like,

...

I don't know Did. They still do our church, but it's like

...

a custom, like, in Ortho next weddings, would be like a little

...

Crowns, so kind of a modern thing. And I I like never wanted an

...

so sweating I just wanted, like, a protestant

...

Right. Keep it simple. We keep your bride

...

me in front you

...

What's that? I I I think we're not

...

I'm not sure if we lost you on Earth. I just

...

Simple to the point.

...

Yeah. It's

...

Right.

...

my my mic decided to turn and stuff on. That's great. Yeah. No. I've totally. I was a

...

keep it simple the present wedding. Don't as us. Have your.

...

and keep it keep it simple. That's ...basically just sum up and promise then.

...

But, yeah. No I ...I did love royal audience. I love your yourself

...

I had the pleasure of speeding game to

...

someone the other day, who actually is sort of the ...she works at Kensington ten

...

a palace, and she is basically a royal photographer.

...

and she was working specifically on a book. I'm trying to convince her to write a book.

...

on lesser senior Royal family member,

...

lighting customs because we know so much about regular customs, but we don't know about, like,

...

these lesser, like, princess Beatrice, princess Genie, Like, obviously, their weddings are gonna be very different

...

than, like, Kate and key and Megan,

...

Of course, I'm using this. You see this guys, I also wanna, like,

...

just mention. I'm not trying to ignore the dudes. The dudes are also very important.

...

in wedding customs. But let's you're realistic. A lot of times, we get focused on the women and, like,

...

paper focused on the female. Again, she's sort of as property being brought.

...

to the man, which ...Okay, nice so much beef with.

...

that's I think I love Arnold portrait so much. She's says equal. And it's really obvious

...

That being said, if I if anyone has anything they would like to add,

...

Well, final final comment before I hop off a stage now i

...

I hope that

...

contribute questions. Please do feel free to come up on this stage. Otherwise, I am going to

...

find us off in a few minutes here.

...

...

...

...

...

Yes.

...

Yeah I'm here. You just call me up any anytime, and I'm on. You know that.

...

Yes. John don't offer things you're not willing to let me take you up on because

...

Absolutely.

...

But then General, thank you so much for

...

for all the input. I'm I luckily, each one of the fortune cookies you put up

...

I it really have verified.

...

like, each one of those images are saved in a different window on my phone. So like, it's a

...

looks through them a little bit more deep and I'm gonna go back and listen to this again later, and

...

Oh, perfect.

...

focus a little bit more on the art. Thank you so much. I was so

...
