Hi, everybody.

...

Happy, Tuesday.

...

Travel Tuesday. It's like, my favorite day of the week.

...

Lily now, what do you think so much for being here?

...

I am doing a fun. Hi, Sue.

...

Welcome.

...

I'm doing a little bit off the cuff typically,

...

my wider worldview podcast is every Tuesday.

...

I'm

...

experimenting with some different time frames. And I thought it would be really fun to do just kind of a short sort of rapid fire experience where we talk about you know now that we've had so long to think about where we wanna travel,

...

We understand that it is a

...

Finite commodity. Right? We had it taken away.

...

We understand that it makes a huge impact on the Earth. When we travel our carbon footprint.

...

I wanted to talk about where your next trip is going to be once we're kind of in quote unquote back to normal land.

...

So I would love to invite to you up, and we can hang out a quick discussion.

...

Hi, Judy. How are you?

...

Great, Megan. Thanks for letting doing this real quick. I'm getting ready to go swim some laps with my son, so I love the rapid fire concept.

...

Megan, I am in the travel industry, and

...

I love this room.

...

Just

...

Oh,

...

is a

...

is a host.

...

Well, gosh. My middle eight, my middle sign

...

graduated high school in twenty twenty.

...

Australia

...

told.

...

So one of the benefits of this last year, twenty twenty,

...

in my training

...

because we weren't going anywhere.

...

I won a several night stay at this

...

magical. I've never been, but I know it's gonna be magical.

...

Resort,

...

that is a sustainable concept

...

in Turks and.

...

And we are going in May. We're both

...

we're both gonna do everything we need to do to go.

...

And I'm cited about that being the first

...

journey out of my country United States

...

since sweat two twenty and nineteen. Right?

...

Right.

...

I love that. I actually ...fun fact,

...

I ...I

...

...first of all, we need to have a conversation about travel because I I'm so excited to hear you in this industry. I'm so grateful that, you know, you you mentioned you like this zoom. So I love it too. I think it's important to just kind of explore things. I love Turkish. It's I actually my first marketing roll out of college

...

I worked in agency

...

and the sale,

...

turks and K was a cognitive of mine. So I learned a lot about it, but Well, in what way is it sustainable? Do you know much about the

...

resort that you're gonna be staying at?

...

Well, I just know that it is

...

one that they try to

...

create most of the electricity

...

through solar.

...

I know that they try to

...

really

...

reduce the amount of plastic use,

...

and I know that they're trying to

...

use local resources

...

for their you know, seed a table,

...

dining.

...

There's ...there's another resort though that I am just static to hear about that I just wanted to share with you, and I may butcher the name.

...

It's ...it's

...

called the house, the house of I and has

...

a resort called Pom

...

that may be the mispronounced, but it is at ruby riviera Maya,

...

outside of Cancun.

...

And what's so cool about it, Megan is that

...

when they built the resort. They did not disturb nature at all. So it it can say a hundred percent that they're trying to be sustainable. So I but

...

sorry to pivot to that, but I just wanna to share that if you and I'd love to have a conversation some time offline. And after I learn how to do all this stuff,

...

I would yeah. Absolutely.

...

I you know, I think that ...at

...

least for me, this is kind of a an interesting. And by the way, if anybody in the audience wants to come up and just chat about where you ...you know, you've got your eyes that on now that

...

sort of like a sentimental thing. Right? Like, we we haven't traveled in so long. We really now ...I I know my bucket list got actually a lot shorter because I was like, okay, if I have sinai resources visit in time,

...

what do I really wanna see?

...

But the

...

the whole idea of sustainable travel was very intimidating to me. And I sort of felt like, I was kind of a fraud of, like,

...

And I also don't really know how to do it. I feel like everybody who does sustainable travel is, like, very,

...

you know, into

...

I'm like, I don't have any solar panels in my house. So i can I still sustainably travel?

...

If that makes sense. So it's kind of interesting. I I would love to hear your thoughts susie on the sort of.

...

Well, I think that sustainable travel might be too big of a word for us. You know, if we get intimidated by it, But what about just traveling with intention?

...

And what about

...

flowing down when we travel and be

...

of the culture or wherever we are. That's my philosophy.

...

No more. Is it

...

in my feeling? I mean, I'm a lot older than you may again, but, I, you know, all these

...

places that we've gone to to get the Instagram picture and to be, like, oh my gosh. Step foot right here.

...

I I think I hold and pray that

...

since we have

...

had a total interruption to the freedom of travel

...

that people will be more authentic in making their decisions and where they go.

...

So Authentic and slow and respectful

...

may be easier, the sustainable piece can be a challenge

...

because we're, you know ...but maybe even flying an airline that shows how they're off offsetting the carbon footprint. That's an idea too.

...

I love that. Actually, I had done some ...I don't know if you're familiar. It's called kind traveler, but I

...

have recently become acquainted with the founder Jessica bladder, and I am hoping to have her actually on the show.

...

And she created a network of

...

sustainable community focused. It's actually the first give get

...

hotel looking platform model out there, and so when you book a room, you actually

...

tack on a fee that then gets distributed back into the community through a really vetted

...

charity or organization

...

And, yeah, I think you're absolutely right. I think that's sustainable is maybe a little bit of a big word for people really

...

cozy up to. It might be better said, intentional travel. I absolutely love that.

...

And, yeah, I I know that I

...

I really have just thought a lot about that, and you

...

specifically saying, hey, you know,

...

thinking about where we've gone to take instagram photos.

...

I was

...

I was reading an article a couple months ago, I think, maybe even before Covid, but it was talking about Iceland and how the Flora and fauna there is so delicate

...

and

...

really hard to, you know, keep alive and and people are kind of, like, tr around on top of it to take

...

photos. And I was like, I was just ...I was like, oh, my gosh. I didn't even

...

think about that. And so all of those ideas are just I love it.

...

Hi,.,

...

...did you have any other thoughts?

...

No. I just wanted to say thank you for letting me come up and I look forward to interacting with you more,

...

and have a wonderful what is today? Tuesday, Tuesday evening?.

...

I I almost forgotten to. Thank you so much. Yes. I would love to chat more about travel. And

...

thank you. I think it intentional travel is really a really good word for it. Yeah.. Thank you Thank you. Yeah.

...

Hi,. How are you?

...

Hi again.

...

Sorry. I'm like, we're working my

...

fireside here.

...

Learning. Oh, yeah. The ins and out. I'm loving it.

...

Absolutely, I have loved Series point of, like, just intentional travel because I know I sort of start for breaking out my hive. I so stressed out when I think of like,

...

sustainable travel, but I think that's just such a really

...

wonderful way to talk lot it. It makes me think of the show the good place, which has been my, like, covert guarantee show.

...

And what just ...yeah. Example is very complex and difficult. And I just ...I think that's a great point. To make.

...

I don't know about others, especially thinking of sustainable travel. My first is this ...oh, I should go to paris like, anyone who knows me

...

yourself included is that ...art ...it's obviously number one in my book as an our historian in

...

as in our another, like, going to paris and going to the louvre specifically has always been, like, it just it's such a great place to resent. And I was like,,

...

I it just it's took ...because it's tri plan if I'm based New York City, so it's a really long trip. And it's like, well, I could stay an Airbnb b, but that's also not really

...

for the culture of the cities and things like that. So I just ...I love this idea. Both the idea being intentional and trying to keep things as much as possible within your control,

...

which is very much what I would like to do when I can go to paris when Covid. Sort of lifts up internationally. That would be such a dream.

...

Yeah.

...

I I love that. And and, by the way, thank you so much for everybody.

...

Joining Scott. Hi. If you want ...if you have some thoughts you wanna share,

...

what we're talking about is kind of, you know, we've had so long to think about travel and and how we wanna travel and traveling intentionally, maybe a little bit more. So than just turn a while checking things off your bucket list,

...

come up on share. But, to know, you make such a good point. I think,

...

you know, it sounds like you have had this dream

...

for a while.

...

And I I know that makes up a lot of people's

...

travel. Right? Like that is a huge catalyst for why somebody would wanna go somewhere.

...

I was actually thinking about this the other day. It's like, well, I have these dreams, like, for me, Egypt is one of those, and we were so close. Like, we were gonna go. We have everything booked

...

and then Covid happened, and I was like, this must be ...maybe

...

this is a test for me. Like, do I really wanna go there? Yes. Of course, I do. I actually read, like, three books about the queens of each and I prepared, but it sounds ...you

...

know, it's sounds similar. Like, you've had this dream, and it really is a passion of yours and so I love that. I hope more people are think about travel in that way because I think it's very easy

...

for us to sort of look at it as a surface thing. It's like, yeah. When I go to, you know, when I go to paris, it's ......I gotta go to the eiffel tower. I go to the loop. I gotta go to their side,

...

and then that's it. And I'm gonna take photos everywhere and benefit i've been. But, really, for you, it sounds like it's more about immerse yourself in culture. It's about the art. It's a dream of yours. It has been for a while.

...

Absolutely.

...

I would ...yeah. Absolutely. It is. And

...

Again, for those of you who don't know he ...I lived in Paris for, but as well too, and they've studied these historical art markets,

...

my special

...

art collection. So, like, going there isn't just about, like, going to the the this is about getting deep into it and understanding the art of things and seeing what dealers or collectors. I can kind of enable little tours out of to see their private collections.

...

And it is it's an incredible way to go and see things through sort of a cultural vine like, oh my I can only imagine how beautiful egypt would have been. And I'm so disappointed for you. I'm, like, having second hand like sadness is as well. I'm like, oh, what a gorgeous trip out and all the beautiful culture who has been able to experience

...

while there and, like, being just even the traditional, like, mummies and but all the pyramids and things like that. It was it's just been not percent. So I do hope you could they go soon. And that would be so

...

Well, thank you. I I hope so. I know it'll happen at some point, but I do have to ...I have kind of ...my jam is looking for the silver lining because

...

Why not? Right?

...

But I do have to say I found one because as, you know, most big projects

...

go ...The

...

degree Egyptian museum, the gem was supposed to be open when we were going to be there, but, of course, it got pushed back.

...

And so I was really, like, oh, man, for all the work that we did. I don't know if we're gonna be able to get back to you a second time to see the gem.

...

But

...

Now,

...

I think there's a possibility, and they just discovered the the lost Golden City of Lux,

...

which, obviously, Lux was already, you know, they

...

it it exists, but I think they I'm I have to read more about the

...

discovery, but I believe that they actually found a buried

...

sort of city,

...

which could so cool. So everything happens for a reason I think.

...

Absolutely.

...

And I mean, it if it's so cool and I just ...there's so link gorgeous just you museums out and I'm really glad You guys will have a chance. I've heard nothing like good things that. And

...

I mean, even if you are that way, and you feel like a extended trip. There's always a loose abu dhabi as well too, which is supposed be think oh.

...

That about that.

...

Just ...think case you want suggestions, we can link offline about that, but I just

...

And to you know me? I'm always like, oh, what about this? What about that? With about these collections? Are you gonna go see this?

...

Yes.

...

Absolutely. Well, thank you so much, And now was so fun to have you up here. If anybody else wants to have up here and just share there's thoughts about maybe, you know, now that we've had so long to think about travel. We've had it sort of taken away and and really kind of examined our

...

the privilege of the freedom to travel and flip between countries and everything

...

sort of

...

taken away from us.

...

We now have kind of examined it from a different perspective. And so wanting to hear where people are thinking about going now that you've had some time to noodle on it,

...

perhaps like a an intentional

...

travel bucket list tighter terry.

...

Welcome.

...

If you have thoughts, we are just doing a very short rapid fire sort of little

...

episodes this time.

...

Talking about where

...

you would love to travel once things kind of go back to normal. Now that we've had some time to think about it.

...

I will leave it open for a minute.

...

But otherwise, if nobody wants to hop up here, I think we will wrap it up.

...

And I

...

I I mixed cited. I've got a pretty awesome lineup

...

for those of you who

...

maybe are just joining, but the wider world you podcast

...

examine travel as a

...

an educational and empathy building tool. And so I'm really excited about the lineup up,

...

Hi, Terry. How are you?

...

Hey, Megan. How are you?

...

Good. Happy tuesday yes It is a happy Tuesday. Although it's a Tuesday that feels like a Friday that should be a Saturday.

...

I get you. I join this. So I love this topic of

...

you know, what are you need on traveling?

...

But

...

I'm still a little, like, my ideal, obviously, my ideal would be

...

like, a european something or other, but to be honest, I'm just gonna be thrilled to go visit

...

my brother in Idaho.

...

Is

...

so I love that. Yeah. I'm trying to force my way on to a raft trip that he's he's gonna be on in

...

July. So that's where I'm

...

I'm gonna force myself in it.

...

That you absolutely should wear in Idaho home.

...

She ...sorry. I i am out walking my dog so it's gonna do, like, a terrible

...

at a chocolate megan.

...

But he is in the Boise area,

...

and

...

now I have absolutely no idea where the

...

trip is.

...

Because ...I have no idea where the raft trip is. I've

...

oh, I love Boise. I actually ...I worked with visit Idaho.

...

And went to a call and like, easy.

...

And I had an opportunity if you go in the winter, you have to go to the blue moon years.

...

Lisa Why is a river guide. She's been a River die for, like, forty years, and she wanted to do something in the winter that was kind of like a river trip. Cool. And so she basically created this year dining experience, and we off the grid,

...

and she brings in everything and you said at community cables. And literally, that was the last trip I took before everything that's.

...

Is she she all? Oh my god. But what a great trip? He is So I asked

...

pretty much can guarantee that my brother probably

...

knows her.

...

Oh, I'm absolutely a hundred percent. Well, I'm sure. Yeah. That's so funny.

...

Because I think ...well, first of all, I don't think the call is that big and. But

...

And she done my gem. No. I love Idaho. I I know was a cool place I haven't been in years. He's well, anyway, this is not very interesting but

...

the travel aspect I'm looking forward

...

to free travel again to like,

...

getting out, but I really, oh, you know what I'm doing. I'm gonna be

...

soon

...

taking a road trip to just down to

...

the

...

Virginia

...

area, and I'm gonna be five fishing for the first time.

...

And

...

doing that a little camping and a little hiking.

...

So

...

I yeah ...so I'm gonna be bring in some podcasting

...

equipment, and we'll see if we can get some interesting audio although I doubt it.

...

Oh, I don't doubt it. I know you make it. I'm excited to hear whatever.

...

I really cool.

...

Jimmy me go. I mean, I'm just excited. I love Camping, and I can't wait to go camping.

...

So it's been

...

a good couple of seconds since I've done that.

...

I love it. Well, it it sounds like, you know,

...

Was up here as Disney was up here and everybody was kind of talking about

...

the the these

...

places have ...it it sounds like when I talk to people about where they wanna travel after the oh the toe not is kind of normalized.

...

Even very sentimental.

...

Like, people are, like, oh, I wanna go visit my family. And know

...

you're the conductivity that I always wanted to or I'm gonna do for the first time, and I love that. I am I really hope that this trend of intentional travel sort of

...

six around.

...

Makes us really consider

...

where we're going where we're putting our tourism dollars yeah whereas, you know, the

...

carbon footprint that we create is going and

...

that.

...

Guess they're all

...

such great points Megan, And when you think about, like,

...

the the energy waste

...

that a lot of big travel

...

takes up,

...

and you know, I get I I do get it in the planes and all of that. But

...

it

...

it was an interesting thing that, you know, when all the traffic air traffic died down when all the car traffic died down,

...

you could actually see

...

you know, certain cities that you could never see before from

...

space all.

...

Yep.

...

I know. And it's sort of like, well,

...

I'm unexpected to go back

...

to

...

travel that I do wanna be more intentional

...

about it.

...

And, you know, I have to say for

...

all the travel I've done in my life, which was extensive. I was a flight unit for pan.

...

And then for delta, so I I travel

...

that's a night North America and year are ostensibly.

...

And

...

I haven't seen enough of the United States.

...

And that's yes.

...

Something

...

I really wanted to so I'm going to be more intentional

...

that.

...

Well, I cannot wait to follow along.

...

Thank you so much for coming at here, and then sharing your photos

...

your plans. I can ...I I bet you anything that you

...

I think that your brother probably knows Lisa. So

...

what was her last again? Oh i'll

...

why, I'll I'll send it to you. Yeah. Send it to me.

...

Yeah. And Thank you, everybody again, for joining us. Again, this was just a little travel tidbit sort of off the cuff.

...

Episode,

...

this was our fifth episodes. So every ...I'm thinking that as a couple of episodes, we're gonna do something like this.

...

And in the meantime,

...

please feel free to join us next Tuesday

...

at six I think Monday six forty five, Central

...

seven forty five eastern
