...

for fifteenth episode today, I get excited every time I say it,

...

if

...

team. I'm so excited to introduce you to fellow Fireside or Chris.

...

producer it, writer, podcast host of text pros and rock and roll

...

Oh,

...

Tv and radio personality and also adventure travel expert.

...

you may have seen her on Mtv two

...

tech Or even the travel channel itself. That's allotted

...

golden glorious channel. She's a trail and has had a

...

hung off first under her belt, a founding b day for Mtv two,

...

a developing team member for us news digital network.

...

a creative of discovery channel's first blog,

...

Cnn Radio host first podcast. The list seriously goes on

...

But today, we're gonna be talking about adventure travel

...

and tapping into her adventure side, welcome, Chris. Thank you so much for being here.

...

Oh, my. Megan, thank you for the amazing introduction. Did I

...

It

...

Have I really done all that?

...

It

...

You really have done all of it. At least my research

...

so so

...

Yeah. I I don't lie. I I have a a

...

way of, like, leaving things off my resume. So

...

If anything, there's more the next

...

Well,

...

Crazy person.

...

I am so excited. I I I've decided with that, I think

...

we are maybe Kindred Spirits. I have a lot of problems saying no to things.

...

so we'll get into it. Before we

...

start just a quick note if you think somebody for everybody joining

...

thank you so much for being here. You think somebody mean your network with, like, the

...

chat. I encourage you to hit that little hanging in the left bottom corner.

...

tap the globe. You can share that link and invite any anyone

...

live anywhere on any of your favorite social platforms.

...

by hitting broadcast broadcast to the world. And then also, we will go

...

definitely be opening up for questions at the end. So please feel for you to either save your questions

...

for the end or use the chat function, which is just tapping that little

...

emoji button down on the right hand corner choosing one, and when the prompt changes to text,

...

you can just send your questions for Chris in that way, but

...

without further ado,

...

Chris, you know, it's it's no surprise. You've got

...

quite global presence. Many of your jobs and your

...

projects of taking you all over the world. Can you tell us a little bit about your background

...

and how you went from being a radio Dj and Vo to a Tv host.

...

and producer to having travel chilled tap you and say,

...

hey. Would you test extreme sporting and travel gear out for us on

...

Tv

...

It is a twist

...

whiskey road. I mean, it's the switch are worse

...

than they are in Montenegro. You're

...

Yes.

...

you're a travel person. So you that you might appreciate that.

...

Anyway, yeah. So it's turned off, I won't

...

I will try to do what I always used to teach in broadcasting classes, and that

...

say it in a few words as possible so I don't bore anybody. Okay.

...

but it all started in a radio station in the Central Valley

...

California outside of college, I

...

not a job at a radio station. I was very lucky a lot of my luck

...

has been in the right place at the right time.

...

and a willingness to go for it, What I I think really goes

...

the theme of your show.

...

a fearless, so to speak,

...

and making yourself present. So

...

Anyway, I was I wanted to be a serious journalist, but

...

and I started spinning records at my local radius

...

station at my college station, and somebody suggested I should do this

...

instead of doing journalism, I thought, you know, what this part is way more fun.

...

so

...

So I contacted my favorite radio station, and they said,

...

Come on in for an informational interview, and make sure you bring your demo

...

tape. And I said,

...

You got it. Sure thing, and I got off the line oh, god. What to demo?

...

seven.

...

so I called the competitor, and I played stupid and asked them

...

I told them I was I can lie, Really? I said,

...

I was a college student, and I needed to come up with a demo.

...

and I didn't know what what what went on

...

one. So they told me and this is before the Internet. So

...

gave is my ideas. I put a tape together. I went to that station right place right time.

...

first radio gig, then let's hit the gas on this story. Okay?

...

I was there for, like, three years. Got a job in Reno Nevada, got a

...

job in Omaha Nebraska. Got

...

recruited out of Omaha to go to Saint Louis the morning show.

...

I kept saying oh of those people, no things. I'm really happy in Omaha. Omaha a wonderful.

...

city if you've ever been. And

...

they kept coming back with more money, and I'm like,

...

So about ten thousand dollars later, which was a lot ben

...

I found myself doing a morning show in Saint Louis, and the truth is I

...

probably should never have taken that job because I'm not a morning person.

...

and they really didn't do a chemistry test with me and the other morning person.

...

terrible decision. But as they

...

say where there's a a

...

door closed this window open. Right?

...

So

...

that radio station in Louis,

...

happen to be connected to a Tv station.

...

and I gave some bucks to cameraman.

...

who helped me put together a tape, and I sent it off to Mtv.

...

per my boss. Now that that doesn't happen off that your boss says, hey, I think you still

...

apply for Mtv. I have a name, but I did

...

and again, I was in the right place at the right time worked for Mtv for a year and a half.

...

they're that was twenty five years ago yesterday.

...

that we started. And so I'm oh,

...

And anyway, so I had always been this adventurous

...

girl grew up in the Sierra, mountains.

...

and was a bit of a hike and a little bit of a a net case

...

who will do just about anything white water grafting,

...

by diving. I did that for fun.

...

And so

...

after Tv ended, I went to work for Tech Tv for about

...

three years. Now I got into technology. So this is a long way of saying

...

how the travel channel job came along. They're hitting one right after Mtv called

...

intersection. It was just kind of a part time thing it was me of

...

three other hosts, and we would go and see the same city for different ways. So, like,

...

Chicago, when person kinda take what you would do with your family,

...

and we had a gay hose to kinda do what you would

...

you know, kinda go on a gauge. And, you know, this is the first of this. This the for

...

that it had me doing some of the historical stuff. Like I was

...

going with the mob had been and that sort of thing.

...

And then and I don't remember what the other a person to be honest with you.

...

But anyway, so that's show when we lasted for about

...

six months, but it put me on a travel channels radar.

...

So a few years later after,

...

The travel channel called me back.

...

and said, we think we have a show that's perfect for you, because it is

...

technology. I just come from Captivity, and it's travel

...

which we know you like,

...

and we know you.

...

and you wanna try out for this thing. And I did, and I got it.

...

and there was only two hosts on that ...I was the main host.

...

And then there was another

...

Fellow who is a local news anchor, and so he couldn't go anywhere. So lucky for me,

...

I had that's air quotes

...

happy

...

oh,

...

all the traveling. And sometimes it was hard

...

but I'll show up right there and wait for your next question because I think how it was hard will come out

...

in your natural questions.

...

Oh, I oh my gosh. So

...

I was ...I had all these, you know, grandiose ideas of, like,

...

oh, they ...you must have, you know, really well them with

...

and not that you did in by any means, but it's like, oh,

...

know, you must have something something wild and crazy, and and they were like, oh, we've got the perfect thing.

...

But it really was just this mouth of all of your backgrounds.

...

and and getting yourself out there, Like, you said putting on your radar and and then

...

having that little magical, like,

...

By yeah.

...

I'll try it. I'll figure it out. I don't know how to do this, but I will

...

the point I'm fighting it.

...

Right.

...

Is that kind of

...

fair

...

it's pretty fair to say, I would say I have always been a natural

...

adventure. I don't know if you were just listening. Hi. Jim Louder and everyone, I'm gonna talk about

...

Jim

...

Yeah. Welcome Jim.

...

Kim and Cassie, we're just talking a few minutes ago.

...

about how you are more than one facet

...

are you're the ......you're mostly dimensional. Right? So, like,

...

Oh, a thousand percent.

...

jim loves fish, and then he's into business, and then he's a

...

cut head, and he's a multifaceted guy. Right?

...

by the same token, I love music. I love

...

travel, but I've always been in an adventure. So the first of i

...

guy i died. I did that when I was nineteen. I did it on my own, and we used

...

yeah.

...

to go spill belonging when we were teenagers even these Natural cavern in California.

...

before before it was popular to do.

...

So I wouldn't say I was great at any of this, but I used

...

to do it for fun. So when the opportunity to do it professionally came up,

...

Hell yes.

...

I'm

...

sure.

...

I think hoped production that I was willing to say yes.

...

to everything because if you've ever worked in television, there's

...

plenty of people who will say, oh, yeah. I can do that. And then you get them right down to it And they're like,

...

Yeah. I can't do that.

...

actually know. Ugh, that's amazing a fun fact. I have actually

...

really also jumped out of an airplane, and I'm gonna out

...

my mom, my mom is in the audience right now. She's actually jumped out of an airplane

...

Totally. No.

...

seventy nine times. So

...

it's for her

...

I am totally adding you, mom. I just had to do that. I couldn't pass up the opportunity

...

maybe I got a little bit of that adventures in her, but, oh my gosh. Okay. So saying,

...

oh. Yeah. So my next question is

...

you know, taking all those things into consideration.

...

And I would love to dive back into some of those experiences that you had, but

...

know, right from the get code, do you have any tips for doing things or maybe your brain?

...

as saying, oh, heck no.

...

like, oh, no. No. Like, no. Other no. I'm not gonna put my feet in this harness.

...

and jump off of a bridge.

...

Right. Right. Oh,

...

you know, if your mom's done this, and I'm sure she is

...

she is probably a whiz at folding her own parachute at this point.

...

But when you're a new jumping out of a plane for anyone out there, megan you'll know this

...

you sign this death wave

...

it's what I

...

Yes.

...

flavor. Right?

...

Hey, All you all that they can say is

...

we can guarantee we've use this equipment before.

...

Right. Right.

...

But if you really read those things here, like, my I will not

...

sue, if anything happens to me, my family will not sue if I die.

...

and it really gets down to that. So so

...

that can be daunting because you read that. You're like, if this was room

...

they're telling me it's safe, but then they're having me sign this.

...

Mhmm.

...

so that's kinda of scary. But at the same time,

...

my advice people would be to

...

responsibly go for it.

...

responsibly dump jump into the deep event.

...

No. Don't go jumping in

...

off ...don't go based jumping without some training, please.

...

please don't do that

...

Yes.

...

disclaimer disclaimer here. We're gonna put a disclaimer on this show.

...

Yes. You should be trained.

...

or go with the plain professional. Don't try this at home.

...

chain professionals.

...

Right? Don't try this at home. But, yeah, there's ...I think

...

it's like with nerves standing on a stage, I think that

...

there are people who can do it naturally, and those who can't

...

And then the vast majority of us

...

stand on the edge in the wings of that

...

stage and get really nervous. But then

...

once you do it and that adrenaline kicks in, you come off as stage

...

and oh, that was great. And so when you start to do that sort of

...

thing enough, you jump out of enough planes, you, you know, spill long enough, you get

...

that adrenaline and rush enough, you start to become an gonna jump

...

you miss it. You like it. You need it. And

...

so gets easier and easier, but, again, just jump. Just go for it.

...

Okay. So

...

Yeah.

...

that is easier to than done, I think, for some of us out there ...so

...

that's why I'm I'm sort of digging at these onion layers and the ...so

...

just jump

...

going from standing in the wings for, you know, maybe those of us who are a little more

...

of the. Do you have any, like,

...

thought processes or, like, anything in that in between

...

whereas most of, you know, some of us are like, yeah. Just

...

Right.

...

just do the thing, but some of us may need that little coaching.

...

Okay. So you're talking about the folks you're a little more intimidated by a

...

Yeah.

...

So, yeah, I would say start small,

...

first of all, don't go

...

straight for the base jumping. Okay. Don't do that.

...

maybe go to a rock climbing gym first, I think

...

I ...my advice would be ...yeah to start small. That's number one.

...

Number two emphasis on safety. I always tell my kids.

...

go for it. But

...

emphasis on safety.

...

if that gut, if your gut feeling is saying, this is wrong, there's a difference between

...

I'm nervous, and this is wrong.

...

you need to get to know those voices, Unfortunately,

...

they sometimes sound a alike.

...

Mhmm.

...

So you you do need to start small.

...

and as build from there you can start with a hike

...

start with a walk and start with a hike, then start with maybe a rock

...

climbing gym, level one, and don't go to f

...

five on, you know,

...

on anything. But seriously starting small,

...

will always help you add a little bit. And I honestly think if you do do too much,

...

too fast, that you'll turn yourself off because you'll be scared.

...

and the nervous nerves will kick in and, like, anything else, your fears

...

are greater than any reality.

...

and that's that is a truth. Like, in a horror movie, the best horror movies don't necessarily

...

show the murder don't necessarily show what's happening to the people. It's

...

it's hitchcock. Right? You you get the impression and you're there and that's

...

was really scary.

...

Oh my gosh. It's like you read my mind, Chris. We are ...because that was a perfect

...

transition. First of all, thank you for those, you know,

...

more bite size

...

baby steps, if you will, I think the audience

...

you know, really can take something away from this. But the other thing is you touch

...

on this. It's the anxiety, the fear of the unknown that

...

honestly, is some of it's the most paralyzing

...

of all of the things. And, you know, we've had ...there's been many amazing

...

conversations here on Fireside about the fear of the unknown, the polarization

...

of our society right now. It's it's a lot of it has to do a fear.

...

which can manifest in all kinds of different emotions, like anger, and all kinds of things. So

...

you know,

...

piggyback backing off of this. How do you get from saying, oh, heck no to. Oh, maybe I'll try it.

...

you, hey, Just let's jump. Getting outside your

...

comfort zone and trying new things. Do you ...you know, and and maybe

...

finding the things that you could try. Do you have any tips for that as well?

...

Yeah. Again, I would say

...

baby steps. And I would also say the body's system is what's gonna work

...

year. You don't wanna go this stuff alone. You know? Don't go on and walk about

...

by yourself. You need to go with someone and you need to go with somebody who's done something like this before.

...

Mhmm.

...

or is taking you by the hand, that's

...

the best way to go whether it's someone you hire or to friend or a family member,

...

who's been there done that can take you to an amazing places

...

you need somebody to kinda hold your hand. Let me tell you a quick but really

...

Mhmm.

...

bad story. This time, I guess it was last week. It was last choose no

...

week ago.

...

tomorrow.

...

Okay. We went to a water part

...

and a dad that I that we were with

...

and I ...were the only ones who really wanted to go on this

...

like I don't know what you call it like a set and drop kind of a thing where you

...

Mhmm.

...

stand in the tube, and then the bottom falls out, and then you go into tube. Now I know it's gonna be

...

safe because just a water tube. Right?

...

But there was a little boy that was about five people ahead to me. I guess you

...

maybe ten, maybe this kid was alone. He didn't have anyone with them.

...

he was really scared, and fifteen people were agony him on

...

And what's you name? What's your name? And he said Mason. And

...

Mhmm.

...

there is like Mason, May, and so suddenly, if

...

went from ...it turned really ugly because his poor kid was scared

...

And now you had people like, supporting him.

...

but almost too much, you know,

...

Mhmm.

...

it were almost just like, they were chanting his name to the degree that they were almost harassed

...

am. And at first was like, Mason, Mason, and then said look on his face i'm like, oh, no. No.

...

no No. No No. But I didn't think it was my place to say anything so I shut up and then the

...

dad was with the our friend that was with us he showed up too, but the poor kid

...

broke down and couldn't do it. And it was just a water slide

...

So I think fear

...

Mhmm.

...

can we paralyze you entirely

...

But I think if I had it to do over again, if I had known that little boy, I would said, hey, honey.

...

Mhmm.

...

watch this. I can do it, and it's super fun.

...

and it's super easy, and there's nothing to be afraid of. Check it out.

...

and then show him how it's done.

...

And then say, and it's up to you. I it's really fun. It's really safe. It's really

...

you can do it you.

...

and then that's it. Let them make their decision. But

...

Yeah. If if there's too many people on, that's gonna

...

destroy it. So don't do that to your friends and go with a friend.

...

I love that so much. So the support system, I think is

...

it's another thing. You know, there there's group travel out there. There's guy tours, they're

...

so many different things that you can kind of tap into.

...

Absolutely.

...

for to get the benefits from this experiential learning, you know, that that is travel

...

It's no.

...

Oh my gosh. I this is ...so I love the so

...

so just to to remind the audience, we will open it up for questions. So if you have any questions for Chris,

...

please feel free to either put them in the chat or hop up here on stage in the last five minutes, But

...

Kris.

...

I gotta ask you. I've watched some of your clips. I got goose buns last night.

...

why you jump off a bridge, I am

...

pretty much a hundred percent certain Back in the day, I was a kid in

...

junior high, like, my Friend and I was, like, binge watching In the travels channel. I'm

...

Did you really?

...

pretty sure I watched it. So I think I guess. I

...

I had travel channel and all the time. I had ...all of that

...

you make it look easy. So I gotta know what is the scariest thing that you've ever tried.

...

Oh, that's a really good question. Megan. Oh my gosh. Okay.

...

What is the hardest thing I've ever done. Well, let's tell you what?

...

here's something that did happen. It's it's kinda mildly related well, I'm gonna try to think

...

a better answer for your question. During production,

...

we were doing a Tv show. Right? So they really they

...

had me doing all these things done. That was fake. I was really doing it.

...

but the problem was ...that ...I don't want ...well,

...

it was travel channel. They were on a production schedule.

...

and the producers got behind the april, and they had to deliver x

...

number of episodes to the network in x number of days or weeks.

...

And so they had me work in double time.

...

since I was the only person traveling and you're doing the extreme stuff, it looked like this.

...

Monday.

...

Sky, Wednesday.

...

deep water scuba diving.

...

Friday, dog fight,

...

Oh

...

And we're talking loop loops, loop loops and a in a world war plane.

...

Okay.

...

I got so violently sick.

...

and I think it was, like, adrenaline, and I listen

...

slight shape. So it's not just bad, but I think it was

...

Mhmm.

...

I think it was probably maybe

...

my first experience with

...

getting climates sick possible.

...

Mhmm.

...

Sure.

...

because I was super high and I'm super I'm thirty five thousand feet, and then I'm

...

Yeah.

...

I'm I'm a thousand feet under underwater, and then right? So

...

it was all over the place. So that was not fun. So some of those quit

...

some smile and inhabit gay old time, and it was terrible.

...

And if you saw my real, you see me sand boarding that

...

Mhmm.

...

sent me to the hospital.

...

Oh, no.

...

It did. Because they told me we're

...

production sake. And, again, my youngest ...if I note to my younger cell

...

don't listen know what everyone says. And this goes back to that gut,

...

showing you something.

...

I was told at the end of the day, it was about this

...

time of day. It was around five o'clock at night here in Southern California.

...

where the sun is starting to go down. And in television, lighting is everything.

...

Right? So they had kind of

...

yank did chain all day, taking care of production

...

needs and realized that they didn't ask

...

has me sand boarding. They did all the interviews. They did all the

...

year check. They did it a lunch. They did, you know, all the visuals

...

but they didn't have me doing the actual sport, which they needed.

...

So their broad idea is hey, take this board. This well wax

...

board. Go to the top of that one dupe.

...

come all the way down. Just do it once.

...

and then we'll have the whole thing because

...

will have gone all the way down to june.

...

and you'll be fine.

...

Well, they didn't tell me any of a equivalent i'm black.

...

So

...

I over corrected

...

I know. I over corrected. I had never done this one before. I had been taught on a fly

...

and I over corrected, and I went over and you don't see it in that video.

...

but I was pretty well well off when you saw what was on my real

...

But

...

Oh,

...

I hit that board so hard upside down, and I couldn't move

...

Mhmm.

...

and if one came running to me because they were really afraid

...

Yep.

...

that I was paralyzed, and I still have a scar.

...

Oh,

...

from the on face.

...

Oh, my goodness.

...

That was fun.

...

you just bound back up. You're like, alright. Let's

...

that wasn't my favorite, but, let's do guys.

...

No. It wasn't my favorite. I went the

...

oh we were done that day. But I probably

...

Sure.

...

I have that once since, but certainly not A hill like that.

...

So back to your original question, what would I

...

What was the original question?

...

Oh, the

...

What's the scariest thing that you, you know?

...

probably

...

Again, it is the fear of the unknown.

...

I haven't really been too too afraid of anything. Other events, like,

...

hanging on the side of a cliffs and having a fear of the ropes breaking

...

mm-mm

...

or being deep deep a hundred and fifty feet

...

under in a cave and having to crawl through a space.

...

just for the brief is second, getting stuck and thinking, oh my god.

...

and starting to breathe a little bit heavier And thinking I could have a heart attack in here.

...

or

...

or the underwater scuba diving where

...

they in me that they pulled some bodies out in a week before.

...

Like like, as you're

...

going into the water. Oh, just by the way, just don't mind the body how.

...

Thankfully, they told me after. But ...yeah.

...

Yeah.

...

three

...

Oh, my gosh. I

...

I would rather explore deep space then the

...

Mariner judge. I think i ...the idea of being, you know,

...

kind of cost physically

...

Yeah. Yeah.

...

limit. Oh.

...

Well, you still make it sound easy and enjoyable, and that is an app

...

salute.

...

Yes. So we're gonna open it up for questions. Jen has a wonderful question

...

anybody has a question for Chris, please you come up on stage in the meantime Chris. I'm gonna

...

Go

...

on this bat just quickly. So this is a section called three travel takes

...

and they're really meant to just be short.

...

you know, rabbit fire questions.

...

So without further, ado, we'll get into students it.

...

Where was the first place you traveled outside your code unquote known?

...

yeah

...

I gotta go faster than this am i define no? No.

...

Well, that's the they it could be just that

...

just what you've always known. So I I love to hear how ...you know, people

...

tap into this sort of you could, you know,

...

you can explore your backyard or if you looked under a bridge instead of going over it every day,

...

like, that sort of known quote unquote.

...

Okay. I would say the first one that really blew my socks off with fiji

...

Oh,

...

But the one that blew fiji you out of the water was South Africa.

...

I

...

blew my mind. Blew my mind. I'll people listen.

...

my bucket list. Where have you traveled that was different from what you've expected

...

did.

...

guys

...

these are on the spot aren't they

...

Sarajevo.

...

Probably.

...

I have not been, but I'm gonna put on my list now.

...

and the final one, what's the best thing you've ever brought back from a

...

trip, whether it was an idea and object a relationship or a recipe

...

Well, I I hope

...

definitely me having technical difficulties. And if it is, you please cut me off

...

Oh, sure.

...

Okay. I would say the best thing I ever brought back was this wonderful

...

story from Tokyo. And it's definitely

...

lemons into lemonade story, and it goes like this.

...

I was

...

I was the only woman on a crew that went to

...

Tokyo. We had a particularly

...

Not nice producer. That's what I'll ...that's what I'll say.

...

who worked this really, really hard

...

promised us, like, a night of relief and fun, the night

...

last night in Tokyo to come back to California.

...

stood me actually stood three of us up

...

to producers and myself up while he and another member of our

...

crew went and did some kind, like,

...

judge humans clubs, if you will, that's what they ended up doing. And

...

rightfully not inviting us. But anyway, we ended up sitting around in our bedrooms.

...

and I didn't know that the other two people were in their rooms because

...

they were waiting for the phone ring. I was waiting for the phone ring, and those two people said, let's

...

screw it. We're out here, and they went out.

...

And so around one o'clock in the morning, I'm saying, I'm calling everyone saying

...

can Leave my room? And by two o'clock in the morning, I'm like, okay.

...

I'm done. So they stood me up, and I was really sad really down came all the way to

...

Tokyo, never had Japanese food, believe it or not, in Japan.

...

And the ...went to bed very, very feeling very

...

you know, pity party, big time.

...

the next morning, I woke up

...

when the sun came up, I pulled open a curtains

...

and there was a fresh blanket of snow all over Tokyo.

...

and about two blocks from my room,

...

was a per.

...

in a park. And I

...

I thought, okay, this isn't it. We leaving in six hours. I'm gonna go for a walk.

...

So I figured it out. I went to this park. It was seven o'clock in the morning.

...

fresh snow.

...

no one around people praying in the. So there were they

...

chance coming out of there. There are these giant crows there.

...

I just sat on a park bench, watched the fog

...

listen to the chance, and it was really honestly from

...

you know, a higher a gift from a higher power to me. And

...

when I got back on the plane and told the other producers,

...

about the snow that morning, they didn't believe me, and They hook it up.

...

and they were like, oh my god. She's right. It's snowed.

...

And so that was just the like, a wonderful little travel gift that was just met

...

for me and me alone. And I'd like to give that as a gift to all your listeners that

...

there will be those moments in time.

...

that'll be just for you and not to be shared.

...

and shares

...

I love.

...

Well, thank you. I

...

And so on that you did share that that is really

...

I just have to think that everything happens for a reason, and I

...

I love that so much. It's when you put yourself out there,

...

This ...this has been such an amazing conversation

...

We did ...so ariel up here, we did have a really excellent question from

...

wanted to ask you what's one experience you would recommend that everyone's

...

try once.

...

We'll hide Chanel, and that's an x

...

in question, what is something everyone should try once?

...

they shouldn't try going to a city

...

and b as local as possible.

...

go there, you know, drink the food, if the water is possible.

...

drink the water, get to know the people smile.

...

don't be quote and unquote and air quotes. Again, don't

...

the ugly American kinda looking for

...

tours and just the regular stuff.

...

try to take the beaten path so long as it's safe, of course,

...

Sure.

...

academy a local and and in a foreign town.

...

I love that. I can't

...

I could not agree with that more. And on top of that, again,

...

it's safe you feel comfortable in safe, but take public transportation.

...

I think too,

...

is a good way to get to know a place.

...

Oh, that's great too. Yeah. Yeah.

...

Absolutely.

...

Awesome. Well,

...

Welcome Ariel to this stage. Do you have a question for Chris?

...

hi. You guys

...

as you know, I am the

...

guy. So I'll

...

flying. I don't know if I missed it.

...

But the the the jet that I

...

Instagram you and Corona, I wanna know, like, how did you find out about it?

...

how much did it cost? Were you behind the controls

...

was someone else behind the controls? Did you feel any g forces?

...

all that stuff.

...

Okay. Alright. So so my

...

Okay.

...

answers are really gonna disappoint you. Okay?

...

we were there for the television show.

...

I didn't pay for it. It was a world war tube

...

Oh,

...

bomber out of commission, obviously. And there was a pilot

...

you're put into the pilot spot.

...

I suspect

...

at the wheel and all of the driving apparatus

...

was disconnected. I suspect it was

...

that wheel was moving around a little bit.

...

And and I was really moving around a little bit, but if

...

Oh,

...

know So it I did ...I don't know what it cost. It was ...I think it was two hundred to three hundred dollars.

...

Maybe that's a guest.

...

wait wait what is it jet?

...

or a propeller

...

Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It was a

...

was says, worldwide two fighter?

...

Oh,

...

Oh, okay. So so it was it wasn't like a

...

like, like, actual, like,, you know, you know, it it had propellers.

...

Correct.

...

Okay. Okay. So ...but it did go into the air.

...

it went in the air, and it would did loop the loops.

...

Oh,

...

and

...

I had to hold mine

...

stuff together for that. That was hard

...

Got.

...

because I wasn't anticipating that. But

...

But, yeah, it was a very real plane that really went upside down

...

it is for hire, and I believe the cost was a couple hundred bucks.

...

and not not break the bank stuff, but

...

not every other wednesday.

...

Right.

...

right. Pretty penny. Yeah. That that that ...that's that's fine. It's it's like

...

like, I a passenger jet can never do loop to loops or else everyone would

...

to them. So that's pretty cool

...

Long.

...

that is somewhere on my back list. I can't say that's all the way at to top of my bucket list

...

but that's a pretty epic experience.

...

but

...

Yeah. Yeah. Cool

...

Thank you, Ariel. That was ...I love hearing about that because I know I I

...

that's

...

use that a little bit, but that's actually perfect segue. Chris, I wanna be respect

...

full of your time. But can you share a little bit with us?

...

where people might be able to find that

...

clip, where they can find out more about your show text

...

that's where the death wave comes it.

...

pros and Rock and roll while

...

Oh,

...

go ahead.

...

Chris, sorry.

...

Well, I'm not sure if they're my

...

Oh, now I can hear. Yes.

...

mind worry. My sorry ...no worries. I'm sorry. How's that?

...

It's okay. It's Monday. I understand. But, yeah, That was as that

...

that gray. I was just wondering if you could share a little bit more about

...

Text rose rock roll, wildfire, your Fireside show, your other

...

current projects. I did put your personal website in the fortune cookie. So

...

people are interested learn more about you following you.

...

they can click on that, but I wanted to ...also give you opportunity share a little bit more.

...

Oh, thank you so much. Alright. Well, these days,

...

as my bios says, I have my feet on the ground.

...

I have kids and a husband in my my my guess wish

...

is over. So ...but I will say we just went hiking

...

somebody we hide twenty three miles with our kids. So

...

at

...

Oh, my gosh. I'm gonna have to tap you first some

...

recommendations because I have not been there yet, but we're now driving this

...

you are

...

I mean, you know, a couple of days or like a day, but we could drive there.

...

Yeah.

...

Yes. We move from Chicago to Colorado, so I can't wait.

...

Yeah. Know. You somebody is is

...

definitely one for the books. Since I saw things this time.

...

that having grown up there, we never went

...

on some of these hikes, because my dad was not a big hike, but

...

we went hiking in some places this time that wow.

...

Wow.

...

I had never seen before. I had no idea, and I grew up up there, and I didn't know the lessons existed

...

So that was great. But ...but thank you for asking. Let's see.

...

So as we had discussed earlier,

...

there are more facets to a person than that.

...

so other than hiking and maybe doing some a little bit of rock

...

climbing here and there, my adventure days are

...

slower, than they used to be they're not over, but they're slower than they used to be.

...

I'm happy to give anybody some advice. I still do

...

some satellite media tours for travel

...

Mhmm.

...

consumer electronics once in a while, You can find that stuff on my web

...

site as well.

...

also, I focus more and more on music

...

in books in pop culture, I'm really interested in people and they're

...

personal journeys and their stories oftentimes through the story of

...

song. So text pros and rock roll does just that we interview authors

...

musicians turned to authors and documentary filmmakers about

...

musicians over the years, and you can catch parts of that

...

right here on Fireside. And in addition to that,

...

text pros rock roll dot com.

...

has all of our tracks with our more high profile

...

folks who been on the air, like, like Willy Nelson

...

and Kathy Valentine's has the go goes in the bad religion. And go that both bad religion.

...

and and bands like that. So

...

Wow.

...

we're gonna keep doing some more. We've got the one of the founders of rolling

...

own coming on very shortly. One of the first B will be talking with me here on fire

...

later this week, and we are having

...

so dog on much fun here.

...

It's a ball. Oh,

...

I

...

couldn't agree more. Excuse me. I just had to pick my job off the floor the

...

you know, rolling stone is just kind of a, you know, it's it's sort of a

...

totem of journalist. I'm like, oh my gosh.

...

so I'm super excited to hear about that. Make sure, everybody. Thank you so much for tuning and make

...

...

coming content. Well, Chris, this has been so enlightening.

...

I hope that everybody here is inspired as I am

...

to go try something new take the baby steps, get a support network.

...

do my research, but ultimately, just jump

...

Just go for it. Thanks again. I I have so thoroughly enjoyed this

...

conversation.

...

...
